The Idiotic Lane Kiffin “Make Baton Rouge Great Again” Controversy

We’ll file this under “legacy media desperate for clickbait” and not spend much time on it, but apparently there are a few Democrats who say they’re no longer LSU fans because new coach Lane Kiffin is too “divisive.”

And why?

Well, we’ll let a stupid article from The Spun explain it to you…

Even though Kiffin has done a pretty good job building up LSU’s roster, he lost a few supporters this weekend because he sent a message to President Donald Trump online.

On Friday night, Kiffin posted a photo of a few “Make Baton Rouge Great” hats on social media. Apparently, people didn’t appreciate that he tagged Trump’s account on the platform formerly known as Twitter.

“You’re so pathetic,” one fan replied.

“20 year LSU fan here and NO LONGER am one after seeing this post,” a second fan commented. “Thank god I went with my gut in not like this hire!”

“Guess I’ve watched my last @LSUfootball game for the foreseeable future,” a third fan replied. “You couldn’t have had the decency to make it until the preseason to keep the act that you’re not an [expletive].”

“You just don’t know when to quit while you’re ahead,” another fan said. “You’re disgusting.”

Kiffin eventually deleted the post on X after receiving countless more complaints. However, he then reposted the same image but without tagging Trump.

Were those soreheads the majority of people reacting to Kiffin’s post? No.

Did that stop the Baton Rouge Advocate from picking up on the story and acting like it was a major controversy? Also, no.

Louisiana went hard for Donald Trump in each of the last three election cycles, it’s quite likely to turn out an incumbent senator in his own party primary for voting to impeach Trump back in 2021, and somehow it’s inappropriate for the head football coach to make references to the president of the United States who happens to be a big college football guy?

Those references were not political, by the way. It’s fairly likely Kiffin is a Republican – with exceptions, football coaches are generally Republicans – but the new LSU coach is  fairly ecumenical in his X references. He posts things that get attention, and when he does he makes himself a relevant follow to high school and college football players.

Trump gets attention.

None of the virtue-signaling retards who say they’ll “boycott” LSU football because Kiffin referenced Trump in an X post that he later took down will cancel their season tickets. Assuming any of them actually had season tickets to begin with, of course. And if any do, those tickets will get quickly snapped up by the people forming a waiting list for them.

Kiffin just went out and put together LSU’s greatest-ever recruiting haul, between his high school recruiting class and the 42 transfer pickups he brought in, including the top-rated quarterback, left tackle and edge pass rusher, respectively, and  yet somehow we’re supposed to believe he’s ruined his status among LSU fans because he tweeted a picture of some baseball caps with a slogan on them?

And supposed adults buy into this as an outrage?

It’s becoming a dangerous situation, this nonstop escalation of hatred against Trump, ICE and other manifestations of law and order under a Republican president. We know that it’s ginned up, organized, and funded. What’s most irritating is that supposedly “responsible” media outlets like the Advocate contribute to that atmosphere by reporting a non-story like this.

They’ll say it’s to generate traffic. That isn’t what they’re doing.
