Louisiana’s primary election last month was catastrophic for Louisiana Democrats. “Louisiana First” Conservative Jeff Landry scored an outright victory in the gubernatorial primary, and Republicans gained super-majorities in both state legislative houses.
Following last month’s primary, I wrote an article here at The Hayride about the looming “nail in the coffin” for Louisiana Democrats:
Next month’s run-off elections offer one final chance for Louisiana Democrats in a statewide election for the foreseeable future. But even then, the Democrat candidates for all the three Statewide elections in November’s run-off (i.e. Secretary of State, Treasurer, and Attorney General) are overwhelming underdogs. Factors such as low black voter turnout in the October primary and low fundraising for Democratic candidates this cycle bode ominous signs for Louisiana Democrats in the Run-offs.
Well, that final “nail in the coffin” came last Saturday. All three statewide elections (Secretary of State, Attorney General, and Treasurer) on Saturday ended up becoming complete blow-outs.
What a brutal outcome for Louisiana Democrats. Losing by 30%+ in an election is absolutely devastating. Louisiana Democrats have no business running statewide candidates anymore with these kinds of election results from both last month’s general election and last weekend’s run-off election.
While “Louisiana First” Conservatives and patriots rejoice following Saturday’s results, Louisiana Democrats are in utter melt-down mode. Listen to the Louisiana Democrat party chairwoman Katie Bernhardt and her reaction to the election results:
“I can’t think of anything more motivating than the slate of candidates that were elected tonight and making sure that we all get out to ensure that the democratic principles that we all hold dear are exemplified in our next slate of leaders that we elect down the road”
Bernhardt’s utterly meaningless response should concern the Democrat party’s faithful after the party’s terrible outing on Saturday. Bernhardt’s leadership should inspire no-confidence from Democrat voters.
Additionally, every electoral trend is looking negative for Louisiana Democrats over the past three years–from the 2020 Presidential election and the 2022 Congressional Midterm elections to this year’s Gubernatorial and State Legislative elections. Louisiana Democrats have no message, no momentum, and no victories in 2o23, and I don’t see how that reality is going to change anytime soon.
If you thought things were bad enough for Louisiana Democrats, then go check out the party’s Twitter posts from election night. The tweet below represents everything wrong with Louisiana Democrats: a lack of awareness, bad optics, and complete dysfunction.
The LA Democrats’ “War Room” here looks more like a “Defeat Room” after Saturday night’s spanking. On Saturday night, Georgia State’s football team had a better chance of beating LSU than LA Democrats did in the statewide run-off elections.
Certainly, not all Democrat voters and activists are too pleased with Chairwoman Bernhardt’s leadership. In fact, a “Remove Katie Bernhardt” Twitter account popped up in my Twitter feed as the revolt against Bernhardt’s leadership goes public.
As we go into Thanksgiving this week, Louisiana citizens should give thanks for the new leadership in the Governor’s mansion and in the State Capitol building. After many years of mismanagement and government waste by Democrats and RINOs alike, a new political era appears on the horizon for the state of Louisiana. The potential “Louisiana First” political era shows plenty of promise and hope coming very soon–considering Governor-elect Jeff Landry’s inauguration is under two months away.

Heading into the 2024 Legislative session, Louisiana Democrats have failed to position themselves as a legitimate opposition party in Louisiana politics. Barring some extremely extraordinary circumstance, that fact remains certain for the foreseeable future.
Going forward, Louisiana Republican politicians have no more excuses. Nothing is in the way of Republican legislators from passing meaningful legislative victories for Louisiana citizens regarding crime, education, immigration, the economy, and a whole host of issues.
The sky is the limit for Louisiana’s future, but only time will tell if Louisiana Republicans are up for the challenge and will take advantage of this golden opportunity.
Our state can’t afford any more wasted opportunities. So, “Louisiana First” patriots must keep pushing forward now that Republicans control Louisiana’s state government.
The Conservative revival of Louisiana starts now, and I look forward to sharing this journey every law-abiding, God-fearing citizen of this great state!
God Bless Louisiana!
