KOENIG: Facebook Censors The Hayride and The Louisiana First Standard

Earlier this week, it came to my attention that Facebook is engaging in a blatant act of censorship against my publication: the Louisiana First Standard Substack.

The Hayride  made a Facebook post on Monday showing that Facebook would not allow them to post a link to the Louisiana First Standard Substack. In fact, Facebook stated that the simple act of posting a link goes “against our Community Standards.”

Consequently, Facebook censored two of The Hayride‘s Facebook posts in the past month related to the Louisiana First Standard.

Sadly, social media censorship is nothing new for Louisiana residents. Last month, the Supreme Court ruled against the free speech rights of Health Freedom Louisiana founder Jill Hines. Back in 2020, Facebook censored Hines and other users for posts related to COVID-19 policy and other hot-button topics.

Even though the federal government clearly coerced social media companies to engage in censorship back in 2020/2021, Justice Amy Coney Barrett and 5 other justices ruled that the plaintiffs in the key free speech case Missouri vs. Murthy “lacked standing.” Overall, Justice Barrett has consistently disappointed “Louisiana First” patriots over the last four years with her poor decisions.

Going forward, the Louisiana state government must seek to protect the free speech rights of Louisiana residents against the encroachments of Big Tech and the US federal government. Our republic depends on it.
