This 15-minute clip came from this morning’s edition of Squawk Box, and it’s well worth a watch. House Speaker Mike Johnson is a frequent guest on the show, especially lately amid the Democrats’ filibuster in the Senate of the budget continuing resolution which has ground everything to a halt but is likely going to be over in the next few days now that they’ve used it to turn out their base to win elections in New Jersey, Virginia and elsewhere.
Johnson talks about that with the hosts, including the reasons behind the shutdown. Then comes an interesting discussion of the filibuster and President Trump’s suggestion that it be abolished in the Senate, as well as a conversation about the arguments in front of the Supreme Court over the President’s tariff powers and whether those are taxation or regulatory policy or foreign policy and what the limits are.
As we said, well worth a watch.
