Industry analysts and state officials agree: the Republican primary for Public Service Commissioner is one of the most critical races on the ballot. The PSC’s regulatory power directly controls Louisiana’s energy costs, economic competitiveness, and job creation. With staunch conservative Commissioner Eric Skrmetta term-limited out, we must replace him with a battle-tested, genuine conservative who knows how to protect ratepayers from runaway utility bills while still allowing companies to earn a fair profit, not some moderate who will sell out to the same big-government mindset that’s crippling our state.
The most dangerous threats to Louisiana are slick-talking politicians who spew conservative rhetoric but have zero understanding of the real-world consequences. Enter Stephanie Hilferty, the poster child for everything wrong with RINOs in our party.
Hilferty has the audacity to claim she “fixed” the Sewerage & Water Board in New Orleans. What a joke. SWBNO remains a disaster zone of broken pipes, failing infrastructure, system collapses, and preventable flooding that destroys homes and lives. Yet this is the “accomplishment” she’s running on? New Orleans families know better, the problems are worse than ever.
She parades around in her “soccer mom” act pretending to be a solid Republican. Don’t be fooled. Her voting record exposes her as a left-leaning, Democrat-coddling RINO through and through.
- She voted for John Bel Edwards’ massive tax package, the largest tax increase in Louisiana history.
- She snubbed our Sheriffs and law enforcement by voting to weaken criminal sentencing laws, making it easier for repeat offenders to hit the streets.
- She took center stage on CNN to attack a fellow Republican and push divisive Critical Race Theory garbage into our schools.
- Hilferty supported “they/them” pronouns in schools, fought critical gun protection bills (including voting against Constitutional Carry), stood with anti-police protesters, backed sanctuary city policies, and repeatedly walked away from tough votes to rein in DEI indoctrination or stop minors from mutilating their bodies.
Conservative watchdogs at Citizens for a New Louisiana have rightly branded her a RINO with a pitiful 4/10 score. Time after time, she breaks ranks with real conservatives to side with Democrats on tax hikes, bloated spending, and radical woke policies. Her legislative record is a trail of betrayal.
Don’t let the friendly “R” next to her name or her polished persona mislead you. Stephanie Hilferty is not one of us. Louisiana families cannot afford her moderate, big-spending, soft-on-crime approach on the powerful Public Service Commission, where she would regulate our energy future with the same failed mindset she’s shown in Baton Rouge.
Real conservatives know what’s at stake. In this closed Republican primary, we must reject the RINO and elect a genuine fighter who will put Louisiana ratepayers and conservative values first.
