HAIR: Rick Edmonds Disappears When the Vote Matters

As America stands at a crossroads this election season, the choice before Louisiana voters could not be clearer. The Democrats have gone full-blown communist, a non-starter for anyone who still believes in the basic American values of liberty and freedom. Yet as attacks on MAGA conservatives intensify by the day, voters are also learning that there are insidious elements on the Republican side of the aisle that deserve close examination.

There is no greater contrast than the one in Louisiana’s 6th Congressional District race between MAGA conservative candidate Blake Miguez and GOPe candidate Rick Edmonds. Voting records do not lie.

Rick Edmonds likes to present himself as the hardworking conservative who never misses a day in Baton Rouge. If we take him at his word, then he has some explaining to do on the votes he intentionally missed, starting with pay raises for politicians.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau’s 2024 American Community Survey, Louisiana’s median household income was about $61,000 (48th in the nation), while per person income was roughly $35,400. When HB1201 reached the Senate floor in 2026, it gave statewide elected officials an $18,000 annual increase, bringing their combined salary, housing allowance, and expenses to $133,000, more than twice the state’s median household income. What did Rick Edmonds do? He took a walk. The man who claims he never misses a day at the Capitol did not vote.

Blake Miguez voted against.

But there’s more!

Democrat Terry Landry offered a bill, HB1194, which offered your hard-earned tax dollars to fund Mamdani-style government grocery stores throughout Louisiana. The bill mandated studies into locations to bestow state grants that were already funded. Now surely the man who never misses a day was there to vote against this government grocery store bill? Nope. If Rick Edmonds was at the Capitol, he again took a walk.

Blake Miguez voted against.  The governor vetoed the bill when it passed so thankfully it didn’t become law.

On taxes and special districts Rick Edmonds’ record is even clearer. SB374 empowered college bureaucrats to levy property taxes up to 5 mills, sales taxes up to 2 percent, and hotel occupancy taxes up to 2 percent, using a constitutional loophole that allows imposition without a vote of the people affected. Edmonds is the Chairman of the Senate Education Committee. Not only did he support this bill getting out of his committee, he voted for it on the Senate floor twice.

Blake Miguez voted against.

Let’s look at some of the bills Blake Miguez has offered over his career that have been passed into law.

  • Banned sanctuary cities
  • Constitutional Amendment banning foreign and NGO money for elections
  • Constitutional Carry
  • Banned ranked-choice and instant runoff voting for all elections.
  • Work requirements for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
  • Mandated reporting to ICE anyone who applies for state benefits but fails the citizenship test.

The MAGA conservative choice is clear when you examine voting records that do not lie.

Rick Edmonds voted for new taxing powers for college bureaucrats and took a walk on perks for politicians and Mamdani government grocery stores.  That is the record.

Blake Miguez voted against and is the clear MAGA conservative.
