Another Call For Downer To Quit

On Monday, August 30th’s Moon Griffon program, the conservative talk show host shared his thoughts on the 3rd Congressional District run-off race between Jeff Landry and Hunt Downer. Popular consensus in the area is in agreement with the statement made by Griffon, which is that Downer needs to step aside in this race and allow Landry to move on to the general election without having to expend any more personal or financial expense. The question is, will Hunt Downer, 30 year Democrat turned Republican, heed that call and do what is best for the Party, or with selfish ambition, continue in futility toward the run-off election.

Folks need to realize that a vote for Downer will end up being a vote for Obama. Downer has a record of voting for taxes and supporting gay rights agendas while serving within the Louisiana House of Representatives, was a chairman of Bill Clinton’s campaign for President here in Louisiana, was a Chief Lobbyist for the Blanco administration following her abysmal performance during Hurricane Katrina and has only been a Republican for approximately 10 years.

Mr. Downer, if you are truly the “Reagan Cajun” that you have self-proclaimed yourself to be, you would put the best interest of the Republican Party before the interests of Hunt Downer and step aside. Landry nearly missed winning the Primary by 160 or so votes, due to poor voter turnout, and will almost assuredly pick up more endorsements from conservative and TEA Party groups that will lead to his securing that nomination if Downer insists on fighting until October.

I urge all concerned citizens in this District that want a true conservative to represent us for the next two years to write Downer and demand that he step aside. We cannot continue to have a battle that takes away time and resources needed to battle a liberal opponent in November.
