The Obama Campaign’s Most Honest Surrogate: Rev. Joseph Lowery

Here’s a guy who fits perfectly with the national Democrat Party’s current bent – hates America with a passion. Some highlights from Rev. Joseph Lowery, race-hustler and communist agitator, as he roused the rabble in Forsyth, Georgia yesterday…

Lowery, who turned 91 on Oct. 6, founded the SCLC along with Martin Luther King, Jr. in 1957 and has been a national leader and the recipient of many honors since that time. Numerous celebrities praised him at a celebration of his 90th birthday at Atlanta Symphony Hall last year.

Lowery gave the benediction at Obama’s inauguration as 44th U.S. president on Jan. 20, 2009. Speaking to the group at St. James Baptist, Lowery said he liked giving the benediction because it gave him the last word. The only thing that followed him on the program was the “Star Spangled Banner.” He said it was the first time in his life he enjoyed the national anthem; he said the anthem is too militaristic. He said he would like to see the national anthem changed to ‘Lift Every Voice,” which is known as the ‘Negro National Anthem,’ or to “America the Beautiful.”

Obama bestowed the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian award, on Lowery on July 30, 2009.

And a bit more…

After complimenting Forsyth on its good looking females, Lowery said he first met Obama when he went to hear him speak for Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birthday in Selma, Ala.

“Most of my friends thought I was crazy; I came out early in favor of Obama,” said Lowery. “During voter rights in ’65, I never knew I’d live to see a black president – I wasn’t surprised that night when we counted the votes. I couldn’t help but cry.”

Lowery was on hand for Obama’s Selma speech in which he flat-out lied and said the Selma march (1965) brought his parents together and resulted in his birth (1959). Anyone who can do math would have recognized how shamelessly dishonest he was being to his audience. Guess it wasn’t that big a deal.

But wait, we’re not done yet…

“I don’t know what kind of a n—– wouldn’t vote with a black man running,” said Lowery. “All that he did with the stimulus was genius. Nobody intelligent would risk this country with Romney.”

This guy’s a man of the cloth and he’s using the N-word to describe his own people.

Remarkable.

But there’s more…

Lowery praised Obama’s commitment to the poor and said politicians should quit saying ‘middle class’ and go ahead and say ‘poor.’ Then he urged individuals to look at their own character and conduct.

“We’ve turned our backs on the faith,” said Lowery. “America is going to hell in a hand basket. We need to straighten up so God can use us.”

Character and conduct from a guy who just used the N-word. But that’s not the punch line. This is the punch line…

Lowery said that when he was a young militant, he used to say all white folks were going to hell. Then he mellowed and just said most of them were. Now, he said, he is back to where he was.

“I’m frightened by the level of hatred and bitterness coming out in this election,” said Lowery.

Huh? He said white people are going to hell because they’re white and then he’s frightened by the level of hatred and bitterness.

He’s 91 years old and he’s clearly out of his mind. But the fact he’s trotted out by the SCLC and the Obama campaign to spew such unhinged rhetoric says volumes.

Nobody in that campaign really disagrees with what Lowery said. They might have phrased it differently, but fundamentally he’s speaking for them.

Which, senile or not, makes Lowery the most honest surrogate they have. He needs a regular spot on MSNBC until Election Day.
