Posted on March 11th, 2010 by Michael Youngblood

According to this article at the Baton Rouge Advocate today, cap and trade will be good for Louisiana.

I don’t think so.

You Didn’t Really Expect Obama To Allow Offshore Drilling, Did You?

Posted on March 11th, 2010 by macaoidh

Don Briggs’ piece yesterday on the Davy Jones gas find off Louisiana’s southwest coast is certainly a hopeful one. McMoran’s discovery of between 2-6 trillion cubic feet of natural gas with one exploratory well has opened up speculation that there may be a vast trend of oil and gas running offshore from the Davy Jones [...]

Davy Jones Discovery – A New Frontier For Gulf Of Mexico

Posted on March 10th, 2010 by Don Briggs

Recently, an “elephant” discovery was found by McMoRan and their partners, Plains Exploration & Production and Energy XXI. This development, found in 20 feet of water 10 miles south of Marsh Island, could possibly bring a new era of exploration to the Gulf of Mexico shelf.
As many know, for nearly a decade exploration has [...]

Scalise, Fleming, La. House To Waxman, Markey: Go Away And Leave Us Alone

Posted on March 8th, 2010 by macaoidh

While the U.S. House Committee on Energy and Commerce awaits responses to letters it sent to natural gas producers as a precursor to hearings later this month on whether federal regulation is warranted on hydraulic fracturing, Louisiana’s congressional delegation and state legislators are taking a very vigorous and aggressive stance in fighting Washington’s attempts to [...]

Breaking Wind – More “Green Jobs” Lies

Posted on March 8th, 2010 by Michael Youngblood

We reported last week about Lindsay Graham’s (r-SC) efforts to recast Cap & Trade legislation as a “green jobs” initiative, in conjunction with John Kerry (D-MA) and Joe Liebermann (I-CN).  We shared with you then the failure of programs in Spain and Germany that bore a striking resemblance to Graham’s proposals.

Today we learned that there [...]

Cap and Trade by any other name…

Posted on March 4th, 2010 by Michael Youngblood

… still stinks.                                      (Hat tip – National Review Online)

Cap and trade is dead.  The legislation to regulate and curb “greenhouse gas” emissions, primarily CO2, has lost its fervor since the science of anthropogenic global warming, the legislation’s foundation, has lost its credibility.  But Sen. Lindsey Graham (r-SC), along with Senators John Kerry (D-MA) and Liebermann [...]

Charlie Melancon And The House Budget Committee

Posted on March 4th, 2010 by macaoidh

In an interesting bit of news today, Rep. Charlie Melancon (D-Napoleonville) has resigned his position on the House Budget Committee. What’s unclear is whether Melancon is making this move voluntarily or whether he’s being punished for voting against Obamacare.
According to Melancon, it’s his call. His people told TheHill.com that it’s really about his commitment to [...]

New Allies in the Natural Gas War

Posted on March 1st, 2010 by Michael Youngblood

America needs to capitalize on her abundance of natural gas.  That subject has been examined numerous times at this site and elsewhere.  It can heat our homes, power our industries, generate our electricity, and fuel our vehicles.  It can create jobs that fuel our economy, and it can completely change the world’s political climate.

We import [...]

Waxman/Markey Using Scare Rhetoric to Control Hydraulic Fracturing

Posted on February 25th, 2010 by Don Briggs

On Thursday, February 18, Representative Henry Waxman (D-Calif.), Chairman of the powerful House Energy and Commerce Committee, and Representative Edward Markey (D-Mass.) continued their relentless attack on the domestic natural gas industry. The top of their agenda was to make the case for the regulation of hydraulic fracturing under the US Environmental Protection Agency [...]
