The Quran Bonfires Are Spreading

First it was Terry Jones. Then it was Ann Barnhardt.

Now it’s two guys in Iran.

Folks are starting to burn Qurans all over the world, which is a good indication of the level of irritation and revulsion non-Muslims are beginning to feel with the religion. That’s unsurprising given the behavior the rest of the world is putting up with from the practitioners of “kinetic” Islam and what is perceived as cowardly silence at best or tacit complicity at worst on the part of the “moderates” within that community.

But the latest in the current string of publicity stunts is perhaps the most eye-opening. While Jones was out purely to publicize his small church and Barnhardt acted in protest of indefensible and disgraceful utterances by the microphone-fellating Sen. Lindsey Graham, the Iranians come about their pyrotechnics from a different angle. The Washington Times explains…

Two anonymous young men in Iran, one Iranian and one Afghan, have burned a Koran in protest. This seven-and-a-half minute long video shows the two men, their faces obscured, holding the Muslim holy book and reading prepared statements. They say that Arabs have foisted this book and their homelands and because of it they have gone backwards for 1400 years. They say they dislike the Koran and want it to disappear, adding “Viva freedom!”
