…that Eric Holder would respond to folks criticizing him by saying they’re a bunch of racists.
Attorney General Eric Holder accused his growing chorus of critics of racist motivations in a Sunday interview published in the New York Times. When reached by The Daily Caller Monday morning, the Department of Justice provided no evidence to support the attorney general’s claims.
Holder said some unspecified faction — what he refers to as the “more extreme segment” — is driven to criticize both him and President Barack Obama due to the color of their skin. Holder did not appear to elaborate on who he considered to make up the “more extreme segment.”
“This is a way to get at the president because of the way I can be identified with him,” Holder said, according to the Times. “Both due to the nature of our relationship and, you know, the fact that we’re both African-American.”
Holder’s statement is tantamount to saying the 86 members of Congress who have either called for him to resign or signed onto a resolution of no confidence in him hate black people.
As we’ve said before here on the Hayride, we’re not on board with forcing Holder to resign. He needs to stay precisely where he is until Election Day next year. He’s the worst Attorney General we’ve ever had in this country, and it’s not close. He’s busy working to promote voter fraud, he’s killing Mexicans all the time with the fallout from Fast and Furious (that’s by his own admission, in case you think we’re exaggerating), he’s intentionally applying the law differently to blacks and whites, he’s calling his congressional critics McCarthyites for protesting his attempts to cover up Fast and Furious…I could go on.
But Holder is Obama. He’s not doing anything Obama wouldn’t have his successor do. And if Holder goes, his replacement will go on perpetrating the same abuses – only the replacement won’t carry the political baggage Holder has accumulated.
Obama deserves Holder’s baggage. Holder needs to be there until Election Day.
And as outrageous as his attempting to throw out the race card in defense of his indefensible performance might be, we’re happy to see that as well. Why? Here’s a comment under that Daily Caller article that perfectly sums up what will be the country’s inevitable reaction to this stuff…
The answer: I just don’t care anymore. I was never a liberal, but I used to be a moderate on issues regarding race, and wished black people the best in their quest of achieving parity. Now, I really don’t care. I don’t hate. I just don’t care. If black people have it rough, do like Chris Rock said: Clean up your neighborhood. Take care of yourself the way other folks do. Stay in school, and don’t have babies out of wedlock. We all have it hard these days. So, please, no more pity or attempts at white guilt. After all, an African American can become President, AG, Secretary of State, Governor…so if anything is holding you back, don’t blame racism.
Indeed. If Holder can kill both the race card and the Obama re-election campaign at the same time, he might actually go down as one of the more helpful figures of modern times.
We’re rooting for him.
