It’s not true.
Civic and political involvement are good things. In general. What’s great news is that the majority of the people who get involved in civic organizations and political activities, even at the local level, tend to be intelligent folks who take the time and make the effort to become informed.
But expanding that pool – by going out and registering people who don’t know or generally care about politics, for example – may or may not be such a great idea.
For instance, how do you take to the concept that this woman’s vote counts the same as yours does?
