As Louisiana home and business owners find themselves menaced by increasingly violent criminals, the Home Defense Foundation of New Orleans has spear headed an effort to fix RS 1420, the justified homicide statute, which we call, the “Home & Business Defense Law” since this situation occurs in our residences, businesses or vehicles during car jackings!

The current version offers a ” presumption defense, ” meaning you were justified in using deadly force to defend yourself & family, only if the intruder dies???

Home and business owners don’t want to kill anyone in order to protect their families! They simply want to be safe from harm!

Let’s fix this unintended consequence so law abiding citizens get a uniform presumption defense, otherwise killing someone is the only way to avoid prosecution during a confrontation they didn’t create.
