Harry Reid: ‘Democrats Don’t Have Billionaire Donors’

While complaining on the Senate floor today about the Koch Brothers, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) said that Republicans are funded primarily by billionaires, while Democrats are not, though that holds no truth. Watch the tirade here:

What’s most interesting is that Reid is condemning billionaires who fund Republican politicians, while Democrats regularly reap the benefits of billionaires who were former politicians and Hollywood stars.

Every one of the Democrat-funding billionaires listed below has decried Republicans for taking donations from the Koch Brothers. Landrieu, speficially, has put together a TV ad and ranted about the Koch Brothers on the Senate floor for pouring money into Republican candidates. Meanwhile, she took a hefty donation from Eli Broad, an out-of-state donor to her campaign.

Here’s the breakdown of billionaire donors who have donated to the Senate Majority PAC, which helps elect Democrats to office:

-Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg

-Entrepreneur Eli Broad, who specifically gave to Sen. Mary Landrieu.

-Architect Jon Stryker

-Hollywood Director Stephen Spielberg

-Businessman Dirk Ziff

-Television mogul Haim Saban

-Colorado billionaire Charles Ergen

-Prominent leftist icon George Soros

-Leonard Lauder
