It’s probably not the stupidest thing Harf has ever said – there is a large volume of material to choose from on that score – but it’s the symbolic nature of the lie and the irony loaded in it which makes this one memorable.

It’s fair to say Marie Harf is cuter than this guy, but she lacks his flair…

Frankly, it was a lot more fun when the other guys were the ones lying to cover up their failure.
