In light of the perplexing stupidity of the recent events at Yale and the University of Missouri, it’s worth questioning whether American colleges and universities are worth the financial commitment we’re making to them; there is clearly both a lack of accountability in a financial sense and, more than that, a lack of connection to the real world on campus. It’s a bubble, both fiscal and cultural, which can’t be sustained and ought to be deflated as soon as possible.
