While Mayor Mitch Landrieu was in Paris, France talking about “resiliency” and climate change with the likes of Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, much was going on in New Orleans.
Here’s what happened while Landrieu was away:
- An unidentified man was shot to the chest and abdomen on the corner of Annunciation and Octavia streets.
- Two women and a young girl were raped between December 4-5.
- A man was found stabbed to death on December 5 in the St. Roch neighborhood.
- A 25 year-old man was killed in a deadly shooting in the Algiers area.
Meanwhile, Landrieu attended a resiliency conference of about 20 mayors from around the world to talk about how climate change is impacting their cities.
Landrieu’s trip was apparently paid for by the conference and not the taxpayers of New Orleans. Landrieu has said he will dedicate at least $60 million towards “resiliency” funding for the city. It is still unclear what the money will actually go towards.
