KLAVAN AND WHITTLE: Was O.J. Simpson Guilty?

There’s a really short answer to this that both Andrew Klavan and Bill Whittle have no dispute with:

Of course he was.

But as they point out while discussing the case, which has re-emerged in the American attention now that FX is running a miniseries which traces the history of the crime and the trial (with Cuba Gooding, Jr. playing a pretty good O.J., by the way), it’s not just that Simpson got away with killing his ex-wife and her boyfriend. It’s what that case – and the Rodney King imbroglio which preceded it – did to open up the racial divide in the country and pave the way for the current far worse situation the President has done so much to exploit.

And while the Black Lives Matter crazies have lit the fires of racial animus all over the country, there is no question that in the black community the dissatisfaction with police they’ve exploited goes back far beyond Michael Brown. That dissatisfaction is a major reason O.J. managed to kill Nicole and get away with it.
