More Great Moments In Obnoxious-Lefty Letter-Writing

We got our digital hands on a fresh batch of e-mails being sent to Christian Gil, a Trump elector from Louisiana, by Hillary Clinton supporters throwing tantrums over their candidate being rejected by the American people and specifically the people of Louisiana and other states making up more than 300 electoral votes. They’re demanding Gil go back on his pledge to support the Republican nominee at the Dec. 19 meeting of the Electoral College, and they’ve been supplied lots of Democrat Party talking points to spout at him.

Gil isn’t alone. Kay Katz, another Louisiana elector, has been harassed by the same crowd

I have cleared 250 emails just today,” said Katz, of Monroe, during an interview with The Ouachita Citizen Thursday afternoon.

During the length of the interview, Katz said she received nearly 50 more emails with subject lines like “Dump Trump” or “Consideration of your vote” or “Plea from a voter.”

Katz said changing her vote is not an option for her. Members of the Electoral College who do not vote for their party’s specified candidate are referred to as “faithless electors.”

“I would never break my word,” she continued. “I was elected by the state party to represent my candidate, who was upheld by the people. If you become faithless and turn away, you truly are faithless.

“One of the emails began by saying, ‘I’m sure you weren’t with Trump in the beginning.” I read that and almost answered it by saying, ‘Honey, I’ve been for Trump all the way.’”

And the punch line to indicate how weak this campaign really is….

In light of the numerous emails rushing in, Katz said she has considered deactivating her email account.

One of the callers pleading with Katz to change her vote identified herself as a New Orleans native who later moved to California.

“She told me she and her friends used to leave New Orleans and come to Monroe to eat boudain,” said Katz. “I told her, ‘You need to go over your talking points. We can’t even spell boudain up here.’”

The Ouachita Citizen proved it by misspelling “boudin” in the article.

Here’s another sampling of what these obnoxious demands, which are more like little therapy sessions for unhinged lefties put upon Republican electors who never signed up for status as emotional tampons, entail…

My name is Karen Garvin, from Chicago Illinois.

Donald Trump represents a clear and present danger to this country and indeed to world peace. His connections to Moscow call into question his loyalty to our country. His pick of noted white supremacist and anti-Semite Steve Bannon as chief strategist will further divide this country. And his plans for a registry of people of a particular religious faith will bring this country down the same disastrous path as 1930s Germany.

On Dec. 19, please PLEASE be brave and cast your electoral vote for Hillary Clinton, for the sake of this nation and for world peace.

Thank you for your time and consideration, I appreciate and respect the role you serve in our electoral process.

Sincerely,

Karen

Overwrought much?

By the way, “Hillary Clinton” and “world peace” don’t go together all that well. Just ask Muammar Qaddafi.

Dear Elector,

My name is Judy Rather Medina from Annandale,Fairfax County,Virginia USA.

I’m emailing to express my deep concern about your upcoming vote for President of the United States. Hillary Clinton won the popular vote by more than 1,000,000 votes. She is the PEOPLE’S CHOICE. Donald Trump won the election by treachery, avarice and the admitted, substantiated assistance of the Russians. He is unfit emotionally, intellectually and morally to lead our great nation. Our forefathers must be turning over in their graves. I humbly but passionately plead with you to vote FOR the people of the United States of America; vote for Clinton on December 19th. The country and the world will thank you for your courage.

Thank you for your time and consideration, I appreciate and respect the role you serve in our electoral process.

Sincerely,

Judy Rather Medina

How does one win an election by “avarice?” Anybody know?

Moving on…

Dear Elector,

My name is Jenae Cohn from Palo Alto, CA

I am writing to voice my concerns about the election of Donald J. Trump to the presidency. I recognize that you are likely very invested in maintaining the democratic process that has kept America as great as it is since the time of our founding fathers. However, Alexander Hamilton helped devise the electoral college system in order to ensure that a system of checks and balances was in place for this country and so that, in the case of an unusual election, a president unfit to serve would not become the leader of our country.

We have reached a moment in our history when a man unfit to serve has been elected. His relationships with the Russian government, his interest in creating a Muslim registry, and the nomination of a known anti-Semite and white supremacist as Chief Strategist are but a few reasons why I feel very afraid as a Jewish-American woman for his ascendancy to the role as president. Can we please look to history to help us make the right decision? Can we ensure that history does not, in fact, repeat itself?

Thank you for your time and consideration, I appreciate and respect the role you serve in our electoral process.

Sincerely,
Jenae Cohn

Spotting the talking points as they’re regurgitated could be a drinking game under the right format. We’ll have to work on that.

Are any of these from people in Louisiana? Well, no…

Dear Elector,

My name is Gail Bryman from Indian Wells, CA].

Please vote for Hillary Clinton as she did receive the greater vote & is very able to take on the position of President of The United States.
I am scared & worried with the thought of Donald Trump as our commander in chief.   Mr. Donald Trump is not qualified nor does he have any idea how a large government even operates
As you can see by his behavior!

Thank you for your time and consideration, I appreciate and respect the role you serve in our electoral process.

Sincerely,
Gail Bryman

Just to let you know how unimpressive Gail Bryman is as a political (or otherwise) intellect, her e-mail address is “gbdazzler” at aol.com. So you have the cro-magnon e-mail server, and someone who refers to a bedazzler in her handle. By all means let’s take her advice on picking a president.

Let’s see – any Louisiana e-mails? Still no, but we do have one from the State Of Crazy…

Dear Electoral College Member,

As a member of the Electoral College, you are in a unique position to truly be a guardian of the United States of America. Please consider this letter as an earnest plea to exercise your independent judgment before casting your electoral ballot.

President Ronald Reagan said, “For this Nation to remain true to its principles, we cannot allow any American’s vote to be denied, diluted, or defiled. The right to vote is the crown jewel of American liberties, and we will not see its luster diminished.” Further, he said, “Every American must know he or she can count on an equal chance and an equal vote.” The 2016 Presidential Election has resulted in Donald Trump receiving a predetermined majority of the electoral college votes while Hillary Clinton received the majority of the popular vote nationwide. In Pennsylvania, the popular vote was only separated by a 1.04% margin, which demonstrates the divisiveness of the current political climate.

All of our other elected officials, from local, to state, to federal, are elected by popular vote. The Electoral College was designed to give the South additional representation by counting slaves as part of the population. Each slave counted as ⅗ of a person (even though they couldn’t vote). Today, we don’t have slaves and each individual’s vote should be counted. The Electoral College blocks the will of the people just as it did when it was started. Slaves could not vote, but their numbers enabled their owners to vote and keep them enslaved. One citizen, one vote.

Within hours of the election result, an unprecedented number of hate crimes have plagued both cities and rural areas in the name of Mr. Trump. Mr. Trump used the phrase, “It’s payback time” during the campaign. We need to take this seriously based on the lawsuits he’s already initiated and his vows to sue members of the media, Ted Cruz, Univision, Harry Reid, NBC, the women who have accused him of sexual misconduct, etc. Furthermore, he has said that he would retaliate against the “self-righteous hypocrites” in the Republican party who he said are “more concerned with their political future than they are about the country.” With the appointment of Stephen Bannon, who has waged war against republicans, there will be no time for other voices in a Trump Administration. Not only does our country need unity, the Republican Party needs unity, and Mr. Trump’s actions do not bode well for unification.

In addition, Donald Trump will likely be embroiled in litigation for much of his term. There are suits pending against Trump University and the Donald J. Trump Foundation in addition to multiple sexual assault suits against Donald Trump himself. We need a President who spends each day focused on the duties of the President and the needs of our country.
While it has become common practice in modern times for the Electoral College members to “rubber-stamp” a candidate based on the majority vote within an elector’s home state, Pennsylvania does not require you to vote in a certain manner. Donald Trump has already backed off from his most-touted campaign promises of a complete repeal of the Affordable Care Act, “cleaning the swamp” of Washington, and building a wall within the first week after the election. Those who voted for him did so based on false pretenses. The People of the United States of America are asking that you help ensure that “the office of president will never fall to the lot of any man who is not in an eminent degree endowed with the requisite qualifications.” – Alexander Hamilton, Federalist 68.

The Twelfth Amendment permits up to three candidates to be submitted to the House of Representatives in the event no one candidate obtains a majority of the 270 electoral votes required for the presidency. This means you may cast a ballot for a candidate of your choice that you determine has the qualifications and is the best fit for the Office of President.

You are in the only position to ensure that the President is a person who is qualified and fit to handle the grave responsibilities of the office of the President. The United States of America needs leadership and a halt to the exacerbated discrimination against immigrants, women, religious groups, racial groups, the LGBTQ community, and the disabled. Members of both sides of the aisle have said that Mrs. Clinton is the most qualified candidate. You are the country’s checks and balances.

We are asking that you take another look at Mr. Trump’s actions, your neighbors, your state, and the majority of the people in the United States who voted against him, and consider another choice. “If some among you fear taking a stand because you are afraid of reprisals from customers, clients, or even government, recognize that you are just feeding the crocodile hoping he’ll eat you last,” President Ronald Reagan.

Sincerely,

She’s a bit wordy, but very passionate about wasting strangers’ time with bad arguments borrowed from others.

Here’s another lily-white lefty screaming about racism…

Dear Elector,

Donald Trump is not fit to be president, and We The People are not just outraged, we are terrified.

The head of the NSA has confirmed what we suspected:  Russia “deliberately used targeted leaks to get Donald Trump elected.”

Every day that goes by, he shows more incompetence, and more disrespect for the US Constitution. Banning the press?  Fomenting racism?  Collusion with Russia!  That is not us.

Please respect and consider what We The People are saying.  Our numbers show where we stand, as HRC’s votes surpassed Trump’s days ago.

Thank you for your time and consideration, I appreciate and respect the role you serve in our electoral process.

Sincerely,

Heidi Hermes
Minneapolis, MN

“We The People are not just outraged, we are terrified?” How exactly is that supposed to convince anyone?

And here’s a fruitcake who’s a professor at Arizona State…

Dear Elector,

First, thank you for serving your country in this important role. I appreciate the time. I also recognize that this is usually a rather symbolic task, a seeming rubber stamp. I hope you will take the initiative to use the power the people have vested in you to do more than just act as that rubber stamp.

I voted for Hillary Clinton despite seeing her as a flawed candidate. I voted for her because the alternative, a President Trump, is too unpredictable. If he actually delivers on some of his promises, it could not just destroy the economy or put the nation in harms way, but could strike at the soul of our country. It is surreal to watch interviews with people suggesting the Japanese Internment Camps pave the way for Muslim Camps.

I know that many see this as just bombastic rhetoric, but if you look seriously at this candidate, you will admit that you do not know what he will do, aside from embarrassing our nation. That is the best outcome we can hope for. This man does not have the capability needed to helm the most powerful nation in the world. This is why the newspaper of record for my state, the Arizona Republic, for the first time in its history endorsed the Democratic candidate.

Yours is not an empty vote. You have the power to protect this country. If Donald Trump is sworn into the office of president, there will be a time soon after that the minority of voters that cast ballots for him (and this is not inconsequential–the College was intended to stop candidates like Trump from taking office even when they managed to receive a majority of Americans’ votes) when those voters will regret what they have done. But ultimately, your vote matters far more than any of ours did. I hope you will use it wisely. For the good of our nation, please cast your ballot for the candidate who received the most votes in the election, Hillary Clinton.

Sincerely,

Alex Halavais

That’s just another small sample of the hundreds of emails Gil is getting from the Left’s keyboard commandos. He’s only got one more month to go before, assumedly, the same people begin calling and e-mailing him to bitch about the fact their missives didn’t change his mind.
