How Would You Feel if Shaq Were Your Sheriff?

Legendary basketball player and Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame member Shaquille O’Neal has decided that he wants to be a politician, I guess?

Well, really, what he wants to do is run for sheriff in either Florida or Georgia, both states he has a residence in.

Shaq has been a deputy sheriff in Clayton County, Georgia since last year but is a resident of Henry County, where the incumbent sheriff is up for re-election in 2020.

On his calling to work in law enforcement and dream of becoming sheriff, O’Neal said, “This is not about politics. This is about bringing people closer together. You know, when I was coming up, people loved and respected the police, the deputies. And, I want to be the one to bring that back, especially in the community I serve.”

As Andrea Ruth points out at RedState, he would certainly be pretty intimidating to come across if you break a law.

I, for one, welcome our giant law enforcement overlords.
