Look, this isn’t going to be popular, but hear me out a minute.
There are roughly 216 Democrats vying to take on President Donald Trump in the 2020 general election. Some of them have to find new paths to the party nomination than they normally would because all the usual paths are taken by the others. Kirsten Gillibrand is one such Democrat who is making an odd play.
She is going for Republican support.
Do I want Gillibrand to be our president? Absolutely not. However, she has made one hell of a case to give her a buck to at least make the Democratic debate stage: She is the reason Al Franken is no longer in the Senate.
I knew that calling on Al Franken to resign was a risk, but silence wasn’t an option. I’m running for president to fight for a country that values women, and I’m ready to share this vision with the American people. Will you give $1 to help us bring our vision to the debate stage?

All I am saying is I can spare a dollar.
