Dan Mullen, head football coach at the University of Florida, earned $6.1 million in 2018.
He was the highest-paid public employee in Florida in 2018, according to a ranking by the website GOBankingRates.
By comparison, the governor’s salary is slightly over $130,000 per year.
Mullen was the eighth-highest paid public employee in 2018 according to GOBankingRates.
The site used data from USA Today’s 2018 NCAA salary reports and OpenTheBooks.com to create the ranking. Some employees in the ranking have since left their positions, however.
Of those on the list, 29–or 58 percent–held the position of the head football coach at a major state university, the study said. Most of them were earning an annual pay of $1 million or more, according to the analysis.
