If we pull together, if we just do the right thing, we will emerge from this storm of a season the better for it.
Amneal Pharmaceuticals is taking that mantra and multiplying it by 400,000.
Attorney General Jeff Landry, working in conjunction with State Senate Health and Welfare Chairman Fred Mills, has announced the major donation of hydroxychloroquine sulfate tablets to the state of Louisiana to benefit coronavirus patients.
“On behalf of Louisiana, I want to thank Amneal for this generous donation,” said Landry. “It is important we all work together to help solve the COVID-19 coronavirus crisis. We must come together as Louisianans and as Americans. This donation from Amneal demonstrates their strong effort to be a good corporate citizen in our nation.”
The manna from above miracle moment does not, Landry says, absolve citizens from continuing to do their part to stunt the spread of the virus.
“I wish to remind everyone of the importance of social distancing guidelines issued by the President and state officials,” he said. “Amneal’s donation is one step toward trying to find treatments and cures for this epidemic. Right now, there are no silver bullets. We must remain vigilant against the spread of this virus.”
The LSU School of Medicine is now working tirelessly to launch two different clinical trials using the hydroxychloroquine in relation to the virus. One trial will test it in relation to those who are infected with it already, and the other will be in relation to test the drug as a preventative measure.

In total, Amneal has donated millions of these tablets in total to states other than Louisiana and says they will continue to do so. They will also be donating products directly to hospitals across the country.
Amneal is one of the good guys. Let’s continue to pray for them and each other. This too shall pass.
