MCCLUNG: Yes, Abortion Is On The 2020 Ballot

In an unprecedented election year with myriad issues filling our news daily, one particular issue highlights the stark difference between the Trump/Pence ticket and the Biden/Harris ticket: abortion.

Whereas President Trump and Vice President Pence have achieved more to protect pregnant women and the innocent unborn from the predatory practices of the abortion industry, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris embody the radical extreme stance on killing the unborn — and even the newly born — on demand, funded by your tax dollars.

Newly born? You read that correctly. Harris represents just how far the abortion movement has strayed from their original mantra of “safe, legal, and rare” by her vote in 2019 and 2020 to refuse protections for babies born alive after a botched abortion. An abortionist fails to kill a baby in an abortion? In Harris’ view, that baby should be left alone to die.

Contrast that with the impressive list of pro-life accomplishments of the Trump-Pence administration.

In January 2017, President Trump reinstated the Mexico City Policy, which prevents your tax dollars from funding abortion overseas, taking $8.8 billion away from the abortion industry.

Thanks to President Trump, the Protect Life Rule was finalized in February 2019, slashing the abortion giant Planned Parenthood’s funding by a whopping $60 million.

As an elective procedure, and more importantly as a procedure that hurts many women and also ends the life of a genetically unique human being growing in a women’s womb, abortion absolutely does not belong on the list of taxpayer-funded surgeries.

In addition to being the first president in history to speak at the annual March for Life (which garners upwards of 750,000 participants), President Trump has spearheaded a dramatic shift towards valuing the dignity of innocent life in the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). If you are a doctor, nurse, or healthcare professional whose conscience or religion prevent you from being complicit in abortion, the newly created Conscience and Religious Rights Division at HHS protects you.

The alternative to President Trump and Vice President Pence?

NARAL Pro-Choice America, the largest abortion rights advocacy group in the country, has endorsed Biden. Biden will reinstate taxpayer funding of the abortion industry, which President Trump has stopped.

Harris has publicly stated she will use the power of the federal government to overturn state pro-life laws, including laws that keep parents informed about potential abortions by their minor children, require abortionists to offer a mother the image of her baby on the sonogram and to hear the sound of his/her beating heart, and hold the abortion industry to common-sense safety standards.

If you are saddened by the 61 million abortions in our country since 1973 and want to help protect women and the unborn, the choice couldn’t be clearer. A vote for President Trump and Vice President Pence is a pro-life vote. A vote for Biden/Harris is a vote for more killing of innocent life. Women and the unborn deserve the pro-life vote.
