Yesterday, New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell unveiled the newest civic improvement in the city. Was it a new way to fix the potholes that litter the city? Of course not.
She unveiled a Peace Pole. No, we are not making this up.

The city of New Orleans is rapidly becoming unlivable with crumbling infrastructure. Sure, there may be potholes the sizes of craters in the streets. But we now have a Peace Pole that took four entities to install.
The city thought this new bit of “infrastructure” was so impressive that they actually sobered up Da Destroya and it was actually worth having a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Sorry about those craters in the streets, I guess.
Anyway, Twitter let Da Destroya know what they thought of her and her Peace Pole. For starters, the Peace Pole only worked for a couple of hours.

A common theme of the replies was that Da Destroya was living in an alternate universe. One where the city of New Orleans was a well-governed city with a sober, competent mayor. Instead of what New Orleans actually is.

I have never seen an administration parade the mayor around the town and virtue signaling while the city she is supposed to be managing is falling a part. This administration has checked out of reality and are living in a different one where the city is functioning

Sweet photo-op. The city is in absolute shambles.

Many other people doubted the effectiveness of the Peace Pole. Let’s just say they weren’t convinced that the Peace Pole would do much of anything to lower the city’s murder rate.

Gee. I really hope the Tupac pole can finally stop all the crime happening in NOLA. https://t.co/jHNbQbWOBe

Others were more direct in what they thought of Da Destroya and her Peace Pole.
What the actual fuck? The city is a dump and you are promoting a pole. JFC. https://t.co/xOKKrOdSoi

A Peace Pole?
NOLA is more of a disgusting, crime-riddled mess at present than it usually is. You are ridiculous. https://t.co/84BEUCe7kL

Da Destroya and her Peace Pole even got national attention.

It’s easier to erect a Peace Pole than to actually do something to improve the city of New Orleans. Especially since the mayor is an absentee drunk, the police chief is incompetent, and DA doesn’t want to prosecute anyone, and the sheriff doesn’t believe in incarcerating anybody. Given how incompetent and terrible the current leadership of New Orleans is, a Peace Pole at least guarantees they’re not screwing anything up even worse than it already is.
