GO FIGURE: Bill Cassidy Demurs On Gubernatorial Run

This is what we were expecting, though we’d be lying if we weren’t hoping that Cassidy would get in.

U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy said in a statement Friday that he would not be running for Louisiana governor after teasing a campaign decision earlier in the week.

“When I was elected to the United States Senate, I was given a job to represent the people of Louisiana and serve the United States of America. For the last several years, I have been working on specific legislation that is critical for the future of our state and country. I don’t know if these solutions will pass, but I know they will not pass if I decide to run for another office. I have chosen to remain focused on the job I was sent here to do and to see these efforts through. Therefore, I will not be a candidate for governor.”

Shoot.

We’d like the public to get an opportunity to give its own feedback on two things Cassidy will apparently never face the music on, which he would if he ran for governor.

First would be his impeachment vote against Donald Trump, something he’s absolutely hated among Republicans for and rightly so. That post-presidential impeachment was purely a tantrum by the low-rent harpy Nancy Pelosi, and before he joined the Beltway lynch mob in voting to impeach Trump Cassidy had already voted that the impeachment was unconstitutional. Once he’d made that vote he was no longer representative of the people of Louisiana, who decisively disapproved of that vote.

But second is something more recent.

Bill Cassidy took a maximum $5,800 donation from the FTX crypto swindler Sam Bankman-Fried, and then he voted to send billions of dollars in “foreign aid” to Ukraine – some of which were spent “investing” in FTX.

And Bankman-Fried then spent $40 million donating to the Democrat Party, making him its top donor not named George Soros.

Bankman-Fried had a line on FTX’s balance sheet called “TrumpLose” – that was a donor account which, among other things, gave $2.5 million to Mitch McConnell’s PACs.

So Cassidy took money from this little freak, then facilitated his efforts to keep the crooked Washington cabal in charge of the country from being voted out of office.

And after that he thought he might run for governor.

It’s not that Psycho Bill, as Moon Griffon calls him, would necessarily have intentionally do all this. It’s that he does moronic things and can’t make decisions with any skill at all.

It goes without saying Cassidy as governor would be a complete disaster and his administration would be a sewer of corruption. From that standpoint it’s good that he isn’t running. But he wouldn’t have the faintest chance to win, and we would have loved to watch him finish near the bottom.

Oh, well. Moving on.
