VIDEO: Tucker Interviews Ice Cube

This is a bit different and certainly unexpected, as the latest episode of Tucker Carlson’s Twitter show has him taking a ride through South Central Los Angeles with rapper/actor/entrepreneur Ice Cube, whose career in show business has definitely had an interesting arc. He’s no longer the angry young man rapping about killing cops that he was at 22 years old, but as Ice Cube says in the interview, he’s still not all that good with doing what he’s told.

Including a recent incident in which he backed out of a $9 million movie role over a mandate from the film’s director that all of the cast take the COVID vaccine. Ice Cube refused to take the jab, and when it was made a non-negotiable condition of employment on the set, he said no.

Which makes him a man of conviction, and that put him on Carlson’s radar.

The interview, like the one Carlson did with Andrew Tate in his previous episode, is part of a series. Carlson says he’s looking for noteworthy people unafraid to tell the truth, and eager to share their perspectives.

You’d figure that’s going to meet with some uneven success, as some truth-tellers will have more accurate perspectives and eloquence than others. But in this case it definitely works – Ice Cube, at least in this interview, largely stays in his lane talking about life in Los Angeles, his experiences in Hollywood, business ventures he’s involved in, and other things. He’s not some mindless celebrity, it’s clear; this is somebody who’s his own man and has his own opinions.

And there’s some funny chemistry between the two. Outwardly they couldn’t be much different, and yet you find out that their personalities are interestingly similar as the conversation flows along.

Carlson says there will be a follow-up and a longer interview with Ice Cube. This seems a nice teaser for that.
