Yes, Go And Vote For Julia Letlow. Don’t Be An Ass.

Earlier today I was on for my usual segment on Moon Griffon’s show, and much of the half-hour was spent talking about the seeming closeness of the Senate race between Julia Letlow and Jamie Davis. There are polls which have it within five points, and there are projections – John Couvillon is one prognosticator making these, according to Moon during the segment – that as many as 15 0r 20 percent of Republican voters will vote for Davis.

I have some pretty serious doubts about that, but sure – there are lots of people, particularly online, who are beating their chests about how they’re angry at Jeff Landry and angry at Letlow and angry, angry, angry and maybe they’ll vote for Davis.

Don’t be an ass.

Do I have concerns about Letlow? Yes. I’ll say it – I don’t think this has been a great campaign. I don’t think Letlow’s camp has done a lot to show off her personality – everybody who knows her likes her, and that has to come from somewhere, and yet we haven’t seen it. She hasn’t been all that out in the open in this campaign, and that’s sort of problematic. Davis can’t draw flies to his campaign events, but he has a whole lot more of them than Letlow does, and honestly I think she owes the state more than we’ve gotten from her in this campaign.

And messaging on flood insurance, which is most of what I’ve seen from her campaign lately, doesn’t really move the needle all that much. One would assume Jamie Davis would fight for Louisiana to get help with flood insurance too, so are you really moving votes talking about that?

Meanwhile they’ve let Letlow get beat up over the fact that her blind trust advisor bought Meta stock after they plopped down $50 billion in capital investment in her congressional district, which is one of the stupidest attacks imaginable. That Meta stock has underperformed the market. For the life of me I don’t understand why this attack has gone unanswered.

It’s easy. “Meta invested in our community, and Richland Parish, where I live, now has rich bonuses for its schoolteachers thanks to the tax revenue this massive investment has already produced, so sure – I bought their stock. I hope it starts climbing in value a little more.”

And by the way, we now have Bill Cassidy in that seat. Letlow is an improvement.

But forget about all that. Letlow doesn’t need to sell you on sending her to the Senate because you already know what the stakes are. How can you not?

Jamie Davis just had his big campaign event in New Orleans a couple of days ago. Guess who they brought in to stump for him.

Pete Buttigieg.

Pete Buttigieg who was Biden’s Transportation Secretary.

Did Buttigieg get any new roads or bridges built in Louisiana? No. Did he build any airports? No. He wasted a ton of energy on the stupid passenger train from Baton Rouge to New Orleans that nobody actually wants but the consultants and engineers who’ll get fat off it. Other than that, Pete Buttigieg, when he didn’t go on maternity leave with his husband and their two “adopted” (read: store-bought) babies, taking pictures in a birthing bed in a sick mockery of childbirth, while the supply chain disintegrated all around him, spent his time decrying “racist roads.”

This guy has absolutely zero business coming to Louisiana and telling us who to vote for.

And the fact that the Democrats brought Buttigieg in to campaign for Davis tells you that there isn’t any ideological difference between Jamie Davis and Pete Buttigieg and the rest of the commies in the national Democrat Party.

He might not present as a hard-core socialist, but all his friends are. Look who’s campaigning for him.

You think Jamie Davis won’t vote with the Democrats every time in the Senate? What are you, stupid? They don’t allow their people to go off the reservation. Look what they did to Kyrsten Sinema and Joe Manchin. Look what they’re doing to John Fetterman, who doesn’t even vote against them. Fetterman just says slightly centrist things and they hate him like poison, but his voting record is 90 percent hard-core leftists. That still isn’t good enough.

Jamie Davis, the cotton farmer from Tensas Parish who’s never made it further than the police jury over there, is somehow going to be a non-partisan Third Way in the U.S. Senate?

Don’t be an ass.

If you’re one of this mythical 15 percent of Republican voters who are going to pull a lever for him, you have lost your mind. You’ve decided that because you don’t like all the things Republicans have done over the past two years you’re going to let a party full of domestic enemies have one of Louisiana’s two Senate seats for the next six years?

Did you not pay attention for eight years when you, or people like you, decided you wanted to punish David Vitter for hookers? Boy, John Bel Edwards really paid that off, didn’t he?

I’m not worried that Letlow will lose this race. But it’s embarrassing if she wins a close one. Especially if Republicans can’t be counted on to vote against today’s Democrats.
