“All the world’s a stage” describes the Seven Stages of Men’s lives: infancy, childhood, lover, soldier, justice, old age and mental dementia leading to death itself. Petronius originally said: “almost the whole world are actors” (from the Latin). In government this passage has modernity. It applies to what we see, what we’ve watched and how it affects us daily and in years to come.

Let’s take a look at this Midsummer’s Nightmare we call politics. This stage is set and dressed to appear before that most important of audiences: the American people. We wax poetic while looking at the people being affected by the campaigns.

“At first, the infant, mewling and puking in the nurses arms”; could represent Marco Rubio, neophyte Senator from Florida. While young and not fully tested by the world, he’s stridden to the forefront commanding attention with his youth, vitality and ability to speak loudly and firmly enough to be taken seriously.

Next; “…and then the whining schoolboy, with his satchel and shining morning face, creeping like snail unwillingly to school.” Rick Santorum refuses to accept what others see as inevitable. He shouts from his postured positions so he might gain favor in the school but draws NO great following of pliant subjects; yet.

“And then the lover, sighing like furnace, with woeful ballad made to his mistress’ eyebrow” Newt Gingrich, troubadour of political prose and melodic urbanity has always said much with so little attracting people to continue listening. As he romanced “with woeful ballad and made the mistress’ eyebrow” to arch with interest; he’s fast losing his appeal.

Along comes the soldier full of strange oaths and bearded like the pard, jealous in honor, sudden and quick in quarrel seeking the bubble reputation even in the cannon’s mouth.” Allen West is a soldier and warrior, now a Representative from the State of Florida. He’s quick in quarrel (ask Debbie Wasserman- Schultz). He‘s ready for any fight directed toward him.

“And then the justice, in fair round belly with capon lined, with eyes severe and beard of formal cut, full of wise saws and modern instances, and so he plays his part”; could be any of the Supreme Court Justices. Watching the debate and conduct of government in action, they await the chance to direct the Congress toward Constitutional compliance (or at least they should).

Then strolls across the stage Joe Biden representing: “the sixth stage shifts into lean and slippered pantaloon, with spectacles on nose and pouch on side, his youthful hose, well saved, a world too wide for his shrunken shank; and his manly voice, turning again toward childish treble, pipes and whistles in his sound” He’s a joke.

And in finality we come to the: “Last scene of all, that ends this strange eventful history, is second childishness and mere oblivion, sans teeth, sans eyes, sans taste, sans everything”.

Obama’s politically outlived the first three and been a soldier for socialist doctrine. He now suffers a loss of love he wanted so badly at the outset of his first campaign. His hotheaded defiance of convention for the sake of defiance has cost him dearly. He still seeks approval even though he knows he doesn’t deserve it. He feeds off of past glory. As justice, he’s reached the stage of prosperity and social status. But now, in the dotage of non-productive political old age, he’s losing his charm and his stature is shriveling as we speak.

Obama’s administration, awaiting the overturn of ObamaCare will determine the toothless nature he endures for his lack of foresight and appreciation of the people’s desires and demands.

“And thus we see love’s labor’s lost. Those knaves that speak and ladies that weep shall know a better day in time for once the sun has shone with light and the moon was pale in night we came to sleep anon.”
