Gloria Allred’s Epic FAIL In Boston

Last night Donald Trump, who seems to be engaged in the same publicity-seeking enterprise from the ramparts of the Romney encampment that Gloria Allred  is from Obama’s side, said of Allred “she’s a terrible lawyer.

That was a rather obnoxious statement for Trump to have made, and he defended it by stating that he’s basing that opinion on the personal experience of a friend who had hired Allred with disastrous results.

Trump’s friend was most likely not Maureen Sullivan Stemberg, Allred’s current client in her attempt to influence the election in two weeks. Because it appears Allred committed a major boner in the Boston courtroom from which she was attempting to get a free pass to use her client as a cudgel against Romney.

Allred joined forces with the Boston Globe in an attempt to remove a gag order on the files and principals in Stemberg’s divorce with her ex-husband Tom Stemberg, the founder of Staples and a friend and campaign manager to Mitt Romney. The paper was looking for testimony Romney gave in the divorce proceedings about the value of the company – the final settlement gave Maureen 500,000 shares – and Romney’s attorneys had no problem with releasing that testimony.

But what Allred wanted was for the judge to lift the gag order on her client so she could engage in some form of sensationalist bashing of Romney. And that didn’t go so well.

TMZ’s feed of this morning’s judicial proceedings (via Legal Insurrection)…

7:10 AM PT — The judge has agreed to release Mitt’s transcripts to the Boston Globe — but Gloria’s client is not allowed to talk about the case.

7:02 AM PT — Gloria is grasping at straws … but it’s clear, the judge is not gonna cut her a break. Gloria vows to return to court after she files a motion.

6:55 AM PT — It looks like Gloria is getting shut down because she never made the motion to ungag her client. The judge said the matter is not before the court.

6:53 AM PT — We’ve made up our minds — the judge is, in fact, hot.

6:51 AM PT — The judge seems to be saying that Gloria didn’t make the proper motion to ungag her client.

6:38 AM PT — It seems they have AGREED to release the transcripts.

6:37 AM PT –Romney’s lawyer says the Gov. has no problem having his testimony made public.

And it gets even better…

8:30 AM PT — Gloria denied accusations she’s a “surrogate” for the Democratic party … who’s only representing Stemberg in order to wreak havoc on the Romney campaign.

8:20 AM PT  — During a news conference, Gloria accused the Boston Globe of pulling a “double-cross” because she says the paper abandoned its motion to have the gag order against Maureen Sullivan Stemberg lifted.

It’s probably not a clear-cut case of incompetence here; Allred didn’t just forget to file a motion to ungag Miz Maureen (who, by the way, is apparently a raving lunatic making an online home in the Huffington Post fever swamps). What she was trying to do was to fly under the radar until as late in the mission as possible, buffalo the judge into ungagging her client and then conducting a circus on the courthouse steps today in which Maureen unloaded on her philandering scumbag of an ex-husband and accused Romney of enabling him – complete with all kinds of salacious details impossible to disprove.

And the judge wasn’t interested. Why? Because unlike Allred, the judge practices law, not media manipulation.

If you’re looking for somebody who can get you media coverage, it might be worth paying Allred. But if you’re looking for a lawyer, she’s the last person you want.
