On Friday, the sore losers at the Democratic National Committee filed a lawsuit against the Trump campaign, Wikileaks, and Russia over the results of the 2016 presidential election. That’s right, they are literally relitigating the 2016 elections.

However, when they thought that Hillary Clinton was a shoo-in for the presidency, they sang a completely different tune.

Back in October 2016, Donald Trump was claiming that his expected defeat was proof that the election was “rigged.” Hillary Clinton tweeted, “Donald Trump refused to say that he’d respect the results of this election. By doing that, he’s threatening our democracy.”

At the time, I completely agreed with Hillary and said so on social media. I still do. It was irresponsible of Trump to claim the election was “rigged” without producing any evidence and to refuse to accept the results. It is harmful for a democracy if the loser refuses to acknowledge defeat.

Hillary was not the only Democrat was who was attacking Trump over his rigged election claims. Then President Barack Obama chimed in.

U.S. President Barack Obama lacerated Donald Trump on Tuesday over his repeated assertions that the Nov. 8 election is rigged against him, telling the Republican presidential candidate to “stop whining and go try to make his case to get votes.”

Not only did Hillary and Obama attack Trump over his “rigged election” comments, so did Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren. She said, “Give me a break, [Donald Trump]. You’re not losing because it’s rigged. You’re losing because we see through your creepy bullying.”

We wonder what all three have to say about the DNC’s lawsuit. It seems to us that the Democrats filed the lawsuit because they cannot accept the results of the election.

The most charitable explanation for the lawsuit is that it is a cynical fundraising gimmick designed to appeal to the far-left base of the Democratic Party. The more terrifying explanation is that the party refuses to accept defeat and are trying to litigate in order to change that outcome.

One of the necessary norms in American democracy is that the loser of an election accepts defeat. There is no credible evidence that the Trump campaign colluded with the Russians. This is just an example of Democrats acting like sore losers and that is dangerous for our democracy.

Instead of blaming Russia and Wikileaks for their defeat, the Democrats should look at themselves. They nominated a corrupt, unlikable woman and would not reach out to the millions who could not vote for Trump in good conscience. Hillary Clinton still believes she is entitled to the presidency for goodness sakes.

It seems that the Democrats have become the threat to the American republic they have accused Trump of being.
