Whether Herman Cain is a legitimate contender for the GOP nomination in 2012 or just an interesting sideshow is still a question. But one thing which is less questionable is whether Cain is a hero and a guy to be looked up to.
What this clip Cain’s exploratory committee put out this week, and ask yourself about the comparison between his experience as a black American and that of our current president, whose interaction with “racist white America” largely consisted of his grandmother freaking out over being accosted by a panhandler on a bus once and scholarships to Occidental, Columbia and Harvard Law School. Consider how Obama turned out in terms of his immersion into regular American society compared to that of Cain – who actually bore the brunt of real racism growing up in Atlanta.
Then ask yourself who you’d rather vote for if the chance arose.
