Our regular readers know that The Hayride has chosen to join with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital as a philanthropic partner. There’s an event coming up we’re participating in that we’d like to invite you to get involved in as well.
Specifically, the St. Jude Give thanks. Walk.
It takes place on Saturday, November 19, which is the day of the LSU-Ole Miss game. But that’s not an excuse not to participate – this thing starts at 9:00 in the morning. You can get in a 5K walk, do some good for a lot of kids who need your help just to survive, and then camp out in front of a TV to watch the Tigers make Shep Smith’s eyeliner run.
The Hayride has a team for the event, so you’re welcome to register with us.
We want you to get out there and walk. But that’s not all we want. We also want your money. Because kids don’t beat cancer through goodwill alone, it takes resources to make that happen. Dead presidents = live kids.
So today we’re starting 16 days of solicitations for your money and your time. You know you want to help, so we’ll make it easy on you.
You can help us help the St. Jude kids by visiting The Hayride’s fundraising page and making an online donation.
In case you live inside a salt dome and don’t know about St. Jude, a little background info: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, founded by the late entertainer Danny Thomas, is one of the world’s premier centers for the research and treatment of pediatric cancer and other catastrophic childhood diseases. St. Jude is the first and only pediatric cancer center to be designated as a Comprehensive Cancer Center by the National Cancer Institute. Children from all 50 states and from around the world have come through the doors of St. Jude for treatment, and thousands more around the world have benefited from the research conducted at St. Jude — research that is shared freely with the global medical community. St. Jude is the only pediatric cancer research center where families never pay for treatments that are not covered by insurance. No child is ever denied treatment because of the family’s inability to pay.
You can help us reach our goal by making an online credit card donation. If you don’t wish to make an online donation but prefer to use a check, please contact me and let me know. I can make other arrangements with you to get your cash where it needs to go.
