Whittle says Barack Obama doesn’t have a billion dollars to spend on this campaign. He has $2.2 trillion every year to buy votes with. And if you eliminated the entire federal government – Congress, all the cabinet agencies, the military – you still wouldn’t have enough tax revenue to cover the cost of the federal entitlements.

The corollary to that is if you eliminated the entitlement programs – or cut them back to the levels at which they were originally envisioned to be upon their initial proposals – you’d have a surplus.
