The Fantastic Flying Books Of Mr. Morris Lessmore: Louisiana’s Oscar Winner

Perhaps the best part of last night’s Oscars was the victory by Bill Joyce and Brandon Oldenburg, a pair of self-described swamp rats from Shreveport who won a statue for their short film “The Fantastic Flying Books Of Mr. Morris Lessmore.”

Joyce and Oldenburg are the proprietors of Moonbot Studios, an outfit they founded in 2010. And the film is their first released animation project. It actually beat out a short film Pixar Studios put together, which indicates that all this moviemaking in Louisiana is starting to pay off in the kind of quality and exposure which might lead to our state becoming a player in start-to-finish films.

Which is a great story in its own right, but if you’re looking for great stories, why not watch “The Fantastic Flying Books Of Mr. Morris Lessmore?” We’ve got it right here.
