We haven’t done any of these in a while and I was gonna just leave ’em alone.

And then I ran across this, which doesn’t make me special seeing as though it’s only got about 100 MILLION views on YouTube…

I’d already done something on this song long before it started climbing up to No. 1 on the American charts. So you guys can go read that link and find out what I had to say about it.

Love the song. The guy in it is a jackass and I’m with the girl – he was a dick, she dumped him, she doesn’t want him skulking around and being a dick while she’s tryin’ to find somebody who doesn’t act like a shlub, her prerogative. But most of the time you won’t hear songs that actually tell a story people can relate to – they’re usually about gettin’ laid in some dance club or somethin’.

By the way, these people can do the stunt with the one guitar live, too, though it’s not as easy…

Anyway, the five people turnin’ one guitar into a bunch of different instruments do lots of other covers, and that’s what we’re going to make this post about.

For example, there was the cover of that Grenade song by Bruno Mars…

And there’s the Bobby McFerrin song, which isn’t their best work but there are kazoos…

Ever heard that “I’ve got the magic in me” song? The dude who sings the original goes by B.o.B. These guys might actually do a better job of it that B.o.B. did. I dunno. You be the judge…

Then there’s one they did covering a Rihanna song…

And the Pogues. Freakin’ great song by the Pogues, too.

The commenters under these things are screamin’ – and promisin’ to do things beneath their dignity – for these cats to cover Bohemian Rhapsody. That’ll be kinda cool if they do.
