Apparently, the sonic booms and the broken glass led to about 1,000 people being injured by that shooting star. But nobody, thank God, was killed.

The flash when it came into the atmosphere was exceedingly bright – if this happened around you, you’d probably be excused for freaking out in the impression that you were about to get nuked.
There’s a rumor that the Russian military hit it with a missile and broke it up. If that was true you’d see more than one trail, so you can dismiss that one.
