A 4th Of July Cover Versions Smorgasbord

Rather than find one song that’s been covered multiple times on YouTube and elsewhere, we thought we’d offer up a bunch of examples of songs covered just once in unusual ways.

And this, we figured, was a great way to start off the festivities. Because if you’re going to play a medley of everything from Coldplay to the Nutcracker Suite and even some James Bond songs, why not build an organ out of PVC pipe and play on it with spatulas?

Yes, yes, it’s a bit like the Blue Man Group. We know that.

Back to more conventional fare – here’s Get Lucky by Daft Punk, using drums and guitars…

…and here’s the same song played by a guy (Charles Butler) with a banjo…

How about a cover of Paul Simon’s Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes? Here’s the original…

And a looped one-man cover by a guy named Elijah Aaron…

But here’s the best saved for last. How about a cover of the Game of Thrones theme song complete with the costumes and scenery – and the midget?
