Here’s Rob Maness’ latest gimmick. No hinges on the doors at his campaign offices. This was shot at his Bossier City headquarters opening…
You could be a smart-aleck and say you hope that’s not the door to the ladies’ room.
What he’s trying to say is he’s for transparency in government, but on the other hand Maness was an intelligence officer in the Air Force – so there are things he’s not for transparency over.
But this could also be taken as a shot at privacy. Sometimes closed doors are a good thing. And since Maness’ campaign is supposed to be an insurgent, long-shot, anti-big government undertaking the fact that he’s denying closed doors to his campaign workers sends a totally different message than the one he’s trying to get across.
Gimmicks, if they’re going to be effective in politics, need to be a whole lot simpler and shallower than this.
And less lame.
