VITTER: An Election-Eve Message

Can’t sleep, or are you just a night owl? Whatever the case may be, with polls opening at 7 AM for the election I’m right there with you. So, I thought I’d take a minute to lay out to you my case for Governor one more time.

I love Louisiana, and that’s exactly why I’m running for Governor. I see the real problems that we’re facing here at home, and it’s going to take more than campaign rhetoric and party line politics to fix this mess. It’s going to take real leadership.

I’m asking for your vote, because I know that I have the experience and leadership that Louisiana needs now more than ever.

During my time in the state legislature, I brought term limits to the career politicians in Baton Rouge that used their offices for serving themselves instead of the public. Representing Louisiana in the Senate, I authored the bill that eliminated the Obamacare exemption for elected officials and forced them to live under the same disastrous law that every Louisianian has to live under. I also authored the bill that would strip funding from EVERY “sanctuary city” in America that provides safe harbor for illegal immigrants.

And as for Syrian refugees entering Louisiana, I’m not going to have “conversations” with President Obama or work with him to bring them here as John Bel Edwards has pledged. I’m going to halt it – immediately.

In fact, I introduced legislation in the Senate just this week to halt all Syrian refugees trying to enter our borders. We don’t know who these people are, but we do know that at least one terrorist in the Paris attacks tricked his way into France by saying he was a refugee. Our people’s safety comes first, always. As Governor, I pledge to protect Louisiana.

If you already voted early, I hope that I earned your vote. If you haven’t voted yet, I hope that you’ll head to the polls today (they’re open from 7 AM – 8 PM) and vote for me, David Vitter, on the ballot for Governor. You can find your polling location with the quick tool my team set up on our website, here: www.davidvitter.com/vote

I love Louisiana, and I’m ready to lead us out of this mess that years of self-serving politicians have put us in. Thank you so much for allowing me to serve Louisiana over the years. It has truly been a great honor.
