UPDATE: Here’s the video of the fantastic speech Scalise gave to the House upon his return.
He really looks good. This made our week.
ORIGINAL: The office of Rep. Steve Scalise just put out a press release we’ve been hoping to see since this June, when he was shot on a northern Virginia baseball diamond by a would-be assassin…
House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) is returning to work at the United States Capitol today, after more than three months in the hospital and an in-patient rehabilitation facility following the June 14th Congressional Baseball Game practice shooting.
Shortly, Whip Scalise will participate in this morning’s vote series and address his colleagues on the House floor in his first public appearance since the shooting. Tune into C-SPAN to watch it live. *This will be his only public appearance today and for the remainder of the week.*
Starting today, Whip Scalise will be resuming his work at the Capitol, while also completing an extended period of out-patient rehabilitation over the coming months.
This follows yesterday’s announcement that Whip Scalise will participate in an exclusive interview with CBS’ 60 Minutes that will air this Sunday evening.
Additional updates will be provided as appropriate.
As we reported yesterday, Scalise did an interview with CBS News’ Norah O’Donnell about the attempted assassination which nearly took his life and his long recovery process. That interview will air on 60 Minutes on Sunday.

We’ll update this post with C-SPAN video of the congressman’s address to his colleagues when it’s available. He’s taking part in a few votes this morning and is on the agenda for a brief address soon, when the House is through with a bill providing funding to the FAA and offering tax relief to victims of Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria.
UPDATE: This was great.
