One of the many untold stories about the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey is that of the countless number of people who rescued lost and displace animals separated from their owners or struggling to stay afloat. One video shows the struggle– and triumph– of rescuers in helicopters, boats, and trucks, reaching out to lend a hand to wet and scared paws and hooves. Search and rescue, police and firemen, and emergency responders, in addition to Good Samaritans, spent countless hours rescuing small pets and livestock.
Many owners refused to leave their animals behind, risking their lives to rescue them. Others needed help from emergency responders. The Telegraph composed a montage of compelling and emotional scenes of animal rescues in the aftermath of Harvey.
