Texas Ranked #1 State For Women Entrepreneurs

FitSmallBusiness.com released their 2019 Top 10 States For Women Entrepreneurs and Texas came up with the top spot at #1.

The group attributes a fast-changing business environment for only 2 states returning from the 2018 list.

According to the site, the rankings are based on four criteria including, “general business climate/opportunity (25%), the number of female-owned business (25%), economic and financial health (25%), and safety and well-belling for women (25%)”.

The order of the top 10 states is as follows:

#1 Texas – “Business friendly, no corporate or income tax, high startup success rate, below average cost of living”
#2 Ohio – “fast-growing companies, very affordable cost of living, no corporate taxes”
#3 Minnesota – “high rate of startup growth, high number of SBA Women’s Business Centers and organizations like Women Entrepreneurs of Minnesota”
#4 Washington – “home to tech industry, no corporate taxes, high ranking for female economic well-being”
#5 Alabama – “low cost of living, beautiful beaches, below average cost of living, low taxes”
#6 North Carolina – “above average startup success, below average cost of living, low corporate tax of 3%”
#7 Massachusetts –  “above average startup success, numerous high growth businesses, educated work force”
#8 North Dakota – “top ranked for women’s safety and social support, low corporate tax of 4.31%, agriculture”
#9 Wisconsin – “opportunities for women in business, women’s economic health & well-being, lower than average cost of living”
#10 Georgia – “above average female business success, highest per-capita high-growth companies, business climate, below average cost of living”

Louisiana landed at #36 anchored by a last place ranking among all states in the “Health, Safety and Quality of Life” category.

Mississippi followed Louisiana and Kentucky at #38 with a poor ranking in the same category as well as a next-to-last-place score in the “Business Climate/Opportunity”.

Arkansas under-performed her southern neighbors with an overall ranking of #42, landing one spot above Louisiana for the same category as well as #45 for “Business Climate/Opportunity”.
