Family of boys killed by Texas tornado requesting bikers’ help

Family members of Dilynn and Jace Creel are asking East Texas motorcycle riders to join their funeral procession on Thursday morning. The boys, who were killed by a tornado on Saturday, loved motorcycles.

The two boys were killed when a tree fell on their parents’ car in the 1800 block of Dewitt Henson Road in Angelina County Saturday afternoon.

Services for Dilynn, 8, and Jace, 3, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday at the Carraway Funeral Home in Lufkin, Texas. Edward Anderson, the boys’ uncle, said the procession will go from Lufkin to the Old Palestine Cemetery in Alto,  located on State Highway 21 in the direction of Nacogdoches.

The boys’ dad said he hopes so many motorcycles take part in the procession that the ground will shake, Anderson said. He said:

“Both boys loved motorcycles, so let’s help them out. If you want to ride, be at the funeral home at 9 a.m., no later than 9:30 a.m., so bikes can be put into position.

“If you’re a part of a club or just an independent rider, come help us shake the ground for these boys as we lead them to their final resting place.”

Dilynn was a second grader at Central Elementary in Pollok.

In Dilynn’s honor, faculty, staff, and students at Central Elementary wore green on Monday and grief counselors were on had to help students to cope with the loss of their classmate. Students were asked to draw their favorite memories of Dilynn or what they are going to miss most about him.

A GoFundMe account has been set up to support the Creel family.

“All love, support, and prayers are greatly appreciated,” the GoFundMe page states.
