On Wednesday, Republican members of the Louisiana legislature and Pelican Institute CEO Daniel Erspamer held a press conference at the Louisiana capitol. The press conference was about education-related issues and teacher pay raises. At the press conference, Republican lawmakers reiterated their support for teacher pay raises.

Among the legislators that spoke at the event were House Education Committee chairwoman State Rep. Nancy Landry, State Rep. Rick Edmonds, State Rep. Scott Simon, and other members of the Louisiana legislature.

Currently, Republicans in the legislature have been holding up education funding in a dispute with BESE over funding for school districts. BESE called for $39 million to be allocated to school districts to be spent as they see fit, but Republicans objected.
