BLANCO: Football, Politics, Life And The Eternal Truths

We’re enjoying a great week after that Crimson shellacking and well, Tides roll. Sorry Tiger fans, ye of great faith. Maybe Saban will take it easy on LSU for old times sake but I fear it’s going to look more like a young Dick Butkus and Steve Atwater out on the field. (Go ahead and click the links, see what football used to be like) Although the Tigers can do some magical things. With the way the red wave started this week, it might be Ed Orgeron’s strategy to get Alabama’s players ejected for being too tough to play football. The sport certainly has gone soft enough.

But I digress.

I’m going to go out on a limb and say that this was a good week for Joe Biden.

I know what you’re all thinking, what planet are you on? First, I am on the planet earth. Second, I’m getting tired of hearing the term “it’s been a bad week for Joe Biden,”- we can afford to give him one. Third, wait a few months, we’ll look back and think these were the good days for Pendejoe. Claire Voy Aunt is my alter ego.

It’s nice to take a moment and enjoy this reprieve from the constant assault on our liberties by every corner of this administration. I came out of retirement because, like all writers, I believed that the world isn’t saved unless I strip off all sans skivvies, sit in front of the computer, and write my Phillipics, after which I put the red lantern in my window to let people know my piece is now available. Of course I’m not actually half naked as I write this, unless you imagine me to be.

Still, there is no rest for the wicked and for that reason we must be indefatigable. Don’t expect the left to wake up from their wokeness and realize they’ve gone off the deep end. As we all know, the Empire Strikes Back. They’re coming, and they won’t stop until they’ve finally won. Fortunately the cure is education, most of which is acquired through life. It is these truths that the Democrat Party attempts to undo and force their vision against Natural Laws. In everything the Democrat Party promotes, the end is failure, loneliness, and misery. So here are some truths that we ought not ever forget because at the core of tyranny these truths get buried.

Laughter is good for the soul. People like to laugh. They don’t like to belittle people, they like to find joy in their life and humor helps them find that joy. If you can’t make fun of yourself, you don’t have business making fun of other people. Don’t be afraid to laugh at yourself once in a while. It will also help you identify areas where you can improve.

There, but by the grace of God, go I People are people and we’re all in different stages in our lives. You don’t look at people who are in a worse situation than you to think you are better than they are. You remind yourself that it easily could have been you in their shoes and to appreciate the things you have. You aren’t necessarily better than them, and they are not necessarily without their pride.

When one accepts their own inevitability, life truly begins. Nobody likes to write about our eventuality, but the more unreasonable your fear of death, the less enjoyable your life will be. There’s only three possible outcomes and none are a good reason to fear. If you don’t believe in God and that nothing happens, you won’t know it, and there’s nothing to fear. Or you can believe in God, believe you’re going to heaven, and for that reason, there’s nothing to fear. Or you can believe in hell and that you’re on your way, in which case, the cure to that is to get right with God. It’s not the number of days that you get that matter, it’s how you appreciate the days you have.

A ship in the port is safe, but that’s not what ships are made for. Life wasn’t meant to be easy, you are meant to take chances and you are meant to fail. Everybody fails eventually. You are meant to overcome and conquer the obstacles, the failures, in your life. You may not find riches on the other end, but without it, you won’t find riches nor happiness.

If you’re under 25 and conservative you’ve got no heart, if you’re over 30 and still liberal, you’ve got no brain. One of the great joys of youth is that you get to be arrogantly stupid. You get to think you are the smartest person to ever exist, and that the purpose of the world is for you. But as you get older, reality creeps in. There are billions of people who already been there done that, and trillions more who have already left this world. You are not that special.

Success is built by teams, not individuals Thinking things are all about you is a quick path to failure. You can’t do everything on your own and you need people who can do things that you can’t. Worrying about your feelings and taking offense to everything only ensures that you’ll end up going it alone.

Honesty is the best policy Take ownership of your faults and take responsibility for things around you. People are not stupid and even though they don’t call you out on a lie doesn’t mean they necessarily believe you.

While this may not have been a “political post”, these are some core values that separates great leaders from bad ones, from a country on the right path from a country on the wrong path, and a child destined to find happiness from one destined to be mired in misery. While there are many other truths that ought to be stated, we ought to take this momentary reprieve from the assault on truth and liberties to “speak life’s truths.”
