Rep. Jeff Landry Praises Passage of H.R. 1

WASHINGTON, DC – This morning, Congressman Jeff Landry (Republican, New Iberia) praised the House passage of H.R. 1, legislation setting government spending levels $100 billion below the President’s budget for 2011.

“This week, House Republicans made good on our commitment to cutting spending, reducing the deficit, and establishing a better environment for job creation,” said Landry. “I am proud the nearly 100-hour process was transparent and fair for debate. And I am excited we were able to defund Obamacare, strip Planned Parenthood of government funding, and prevent the EPA from regulating greenhouse gases.”

Landry, thrilled with passing the largest reduction in discretionary spending in the history of our nation, looks forward to more conservative governing, “Make no mistake about it, this is just the first step in giving the American people a smaller, more efficient, and accountable government. I will continue to work hard for open, equal debates on reducing our $1.5 trillion deficit and $14 trillion national debt.”
