Honey Badger Don’t Care If He Passes His Drug Tests…

so he don’t play for LSU no more.

Les Miles announced today that All-American defensive back Tyrann Mathieus has been kicked out of LSU’s football program for an undisclosed violation of rules.

Here is the official release:

BATON ROUGE — Tyrann Mathieu has been dismissed from the LSU football team for violation of team policy, head coach Les Miles announced on Friday.

“This is a very difficult day for our team,” Miles said. “We lose a quality person, teammate and contributor to the program. However, with that being said, we have a standard that our players are held to and when that standard is not met, there are consequences.

“It’s hard because we all love Tyrann. We will do what we can as coaches, teammates, and friends to get him on a path where he can have success. We are going to miss him.”

Well, we are all going to miss Tyrann, since the Heisman Trophy finalist was the best damned defensive player in the country. But, this kind of thing happens when you can’t keep your nose—and piss tests—clean. Rumors are that Mathieu didn’t pass his drug exam for the second time. He was suspended last season in a game against Auburn for a similar “violation of team policy.”

The word is that Jalen Collins will replace Mathieu at corner and Odell Beckham or Russell Shepard will be taking on kick return duties.

Mathieu, a junior, is expected to transfer. If he chooses a lower-division school he could still play this season, but would have to sit out a season to play for another school with a FBS program.

UPDATE: Guess this video will make a major comeback now…
