According to Trip Savvy, here are the top five places to celebrate the Fourth of July in Texas:

South Padre Island

South Padre Island is known as the “Fireworks Capital of Texas” because it sets off fireworks every Friday night during the summer.

South Padre Island‘s July 4th celebration takes the summer fireworks up a notch with its display over Laguna Madre Bay that can also be seen from across the bay in Port Isabel. The island is a popular vacation spot where visitors can fish, swim, kite board, parasail, surf, and build sandcastles, among other activities.

Austin

Every Independence Day, the H-E-B Austin Symphony Orchestra performs an annual Fourth of July Fireworks & Symphony at Vic Mathias Shores (900 W. Riverside Dr.)

Other celebrations include Willie Nelson’s 4th of July Picnic at Circuit of The Americas and the Hill Country Galleria Independence Day Celebration.

Visitors also enjoy swimming at Barton Springs, waterskiing on Lake Travis, and exploring underground wonders at Longhorn Caverns.

Luckenbach

One of Texas’ tiniest towns has one of the largest Fourth of July celebrations every year. Luckenbach, a small Hill Country town made famous by Willie Nelson’s ballad, holds its Family Fourth of July Picnic every Independence Day. This free celebration features live music, games, food, drink and– the World Famous Luckenbach Lawn Mower Parade.

San Antonio

Every year San Antonio hosts a huge fireworks show at Woodlawn Lake Park. As does SeaWorld and Six Flags Fiesta Texas– both hosting Fourth of July fireworks displays.

Six Flags starts celebrating early on June 30 and goes through July 4.

There’s also an arts and crafts show along the River Walk and Freedom Fest at Market Square.

Dallas

On July 3, Addison Circle Park hosts an air show (visible all over the city), a 30-minute fireworks display, and a music concert.

On Independence Day, Fair Park Fourth hosts its annual free event, with food, games, live music, and fireworks.

Other summer activities to consider include water sports on Lewisville Lake, and Texas’ oldest zoo.
